The Permanent Secretary made the statement yesterday being the first day of her resumption in office during the handing over ceremony from the former Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shuaib Belgore which was held in Minister’s Conference hall, Ministry of interior, Abuja.
The new Permanent Secretary, Ministry of interior, Dr Akinlade in her remarks expressed her joy to the management and staff of the Ministry of interior and its Agencies the positive way and manner she was received into the Ministry shows the spirit of oneness amongst them.
The former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr Shuaib Belgore shown handing over the documents to the new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade at the Minister’s Conference Hall in Abuja.
Dr. Akinlade expressed her readiness for collaboration to work with the staff of the Ministry of interior and it’s Agencies as team; her word “I am confident today that you will give me the same measure of support you gave Dr.Belgore the former Permanent secretary” “I cannot do the work myself, we have to work together” she added.
According to the new Permanent Secretary, who further reiterated that “I seek your indulgence to support the office of the Permanent Secretary I now occupied so that we can continue to do good, we can continue to do progress” imploring that the candle of love should be kept burning.
Dr. Akinlade disclosed that the new dispensation of civil servants are well respected in the society. she pointed out that Directors and Staffs are well trained engines that can really move the nation forward, for so much capacity has been built which alleniates the need for external consultants in the service.
While giving his speech, the out-gone Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shuaib Belgore appreciated the Management and staff of the ministry, union executives, all heads of Agencies, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Civil Defence Corp and Nigeria Correctional Service and the Secretary of the Board for their immense support from the time he was posted to the ministry. He advised them to work together with the present Permanent Secretary in order to make Nigeria a better place and the envy of other nations.
The chairman of the Union Mr Bassey Eyo who was present at the event, welcomed the PS and assured that the Union and staff of the ministry will give their support so long as their welfare is not taken for granted.
Present at the event were Directors of the Ministry of Interior and Directors, staff of Mines and Steel Ministry.
