
Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has directed the immediate payment of ten thousand Naira each to Civil Servants across the state to mitigate the effect of the fuel Subsidy removal.
Governor Sule gave the directive at a meeting with representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress,TUC, in Lafia, the State capital.
The Governor also directed Local Government Union leaders to liaise with the Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, State Chairman Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, to come up with a template on what should be paid to staff and pensioners at the Local Government Level.
According to him, the State Government is mindful of the pains of the people hence the need to take action in view of the Federal Government support to mitigate the effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
He explained that the State Government had since began the distribution of rice and five thousand naira to vulnerable households across the thirteen Local Government Areas of the State respectively.
On promotions, increment and consequential adjustment of workers salary in the State, he said it would be given the needed attention as soon as the financial situation of the State improves.
In thier separate remarks, State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Ayuba Ismaili and that of TUC, Comrade Umar Doma lauded the Government decision to pay Civil Servants ten thousand naira for a period of Six months before negotiations for significant adjustment in wages and salaries.
