RE: CORPS MEMBERS TO BE DEPLOYED TO NIGER REPUBLIC TO FIGHT WAR TO RESTORE DEMOCRACY
In response to a video circulating on social media, the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC has debunked report of its interest towards deployment of Corps Members to Niger Republic on the ground of fighting for the restoration of democracy in the said Country.
The video, attributed to a content creator seeking to generate online traffic, alleges the Federal Government plans to send NYSC members across the border to participate in a war.
However, NYSC via a statement categorically stated that the story is entirely false and lacks any foundation.
The Corps urged the general public, especially Corps Members, prospective Corps Members, and their parents, not to fall for the misleading video and to disregard its content entirely.
The organization emphasized that its primary purpose is to facilitate national unity and development through the youth service program, and has no intentions of involving Corps Members in any military or combat operations.
The report also serves as a stern warning to content creators and social media users to desist from spreading false information that can create injuries on the country’s peace and security as Law enforcement agencies are committed to apprehending those behind the video and bringing them to justice.
In conclusion, NYSC assured the public of its commitment to its core mandate as earlier stated, urges Nigerians to rely on official sources for credible and verified news.
